This hand-quilting class focuses on creating a themed storytelling quilt using octagon blocks and hand quilting techniques. While memory quilts are a natural fit, your quilt can be based on any theme—seasonal, events, milestones, family, travel, or personal symbolism. Students will learn traditional hand-quilting techniques while designing a quilt that reflects their chosen theme. Story blocks may include simple drawings, lettering, fabric symbolism, or meaningful scraps. Emphasis is placed on thoughtful composition, handwork, and allowing the quilt to evolve naturally over time. Machine sewing can be used for piecing (but no machines in class); hand quilting is the primary focus of the class. This class is ideal for confident beginners and experienced quilters who enjoy handwork, creative freedom, and quilts with personal meaning.
