ICE STORM CHALLENGE
An ice storm is very common in Eastern Ontario, but such is the theme of our upcoming 2014 winter challenge.
Let your creative juices flow; let your imagination take over; and Giroux Sewing Centre’s first annual ice storm adventure challenge is born. After solidifying the theme, Giroux Sewing Centre is inviting you to submit your fiber artistic vision of a quilted ice storm wall hanging.
The only requirement is the use of blue, white, silver and other “icy” fabrics; entries are to be quilted and the finished banner is to measure no less than 18” wide and 36” long.
These frosty beauties can be pieced, scrunched, quilted, painted, embellished, stenciled, appliquéd, embroidered and/or completed in almost every other imaginable textiles technique. We will display your masterpieces in the airy, light-filled window and greet those passing by our centre, this display will be breathtaking.
While an ice storm may be devastating in Eastern Ontario, with freezing rain and snow; this one is warmly welcomed by the lucky quilters who have the opportunity to view this unusual display.
(1) Register your intent at the time you (2) purchase a min. of 2 fabrics and when finished, (3) bring in your completed project. We will display your Art work from November 20th to December 20th to be judged, and the 1st place winner will receive a $50.00 gift certificate, the 2nd place winner a $25.00 gift certificate and the 3rd place will get a $10.00 gift certificate.
